We are a team of 6 mostly, however we also work with people who aren’t based in the office. Mike Little from Zed1, Gareth Coxon from Dot Design, Steve Halstead at Sharper Print, Sophia Collins from Parenting Science Gang and Klara Kucerova from Pixels and Beyond.
Blame Shane. He started it all and as the director he is ultimately responsible. His early career was in advertising and publishing and marketing is not a dirty word. Email Shane.
Jamie joined the team in 2020. He has many years’ experience in science education and communication, which mainly involved making various things explode, freeze, or explode because they froze. Email Jamie.
Michaela has a background and degree in visual arts. She works part time helping to run the events. Email Michaela.
Josie has a background in event and festivals management, but her favourite bit was always the writing. Now she looks after our communications while drinking roughly 9-10 cups of tea per day. Email Josie.
Emily joined the team with a mass of cynical and critical thoughts on communication, technology, accessibility and the technical side of the site. Email Emily.
Josh joined us in 2013 after a chemistry degree and a stint as a moderator on the projects. He now works remotely helping us with evaluation, systems, data, but never coffee. Email Josh.

What is I’m a Scientist?
It’s a competition between scientists, where the students are the judges.
Students challenge the scientists over intense, fast-paced, online live CHATs. Then they ASK the scientists all the questions they want to, and VOTE for their favourite scientist to win a prize of €500 to communicate their work with the public.
